To combat date rape, we thought of a solution.
Each of our products incorporate a sensor that is disguised as a piece of jewelry, which detects the presence of date rape drugs in drinks. The goal of this device to better help prevent date rape in a simple and subtle way. If the device is briefly submerged into liquid, then a message will be sent to the user through various mediums such as a text message over an Apple Watch, Fitbit, etc. on whether the drink is safe. If the substance is contaminated, then the app should notify the user with the specific contaminant and a plan of action. That plan of action could be the notification of the user’s emergency contact, or in more extreme situations, the police. Together, we are trying to empower young women to be safe while having fun.
